Gordon Hendricks, O.D. received his Doctor of Optometry from The Southern California College of Optometry in 1993 and earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Biology from the University of California Riverside in 1988.

Dr. Hendricks embarked on an unconventional path in optometry, starting with a U.S. Army Health Profession scholarship that led to roles as a Division Optometrist in Fort Hood, TX, and a Research Optometrist in Fort Rucker, AL. His military tenure involved research on aviation-related visual factors. Transitioning to civilian life, he worked in Midland/Odessa, TX, studying retinal regeneration in albino catfish. With over two decades at the El Paso Veterans Administration, he attained a Fellowship at the American Academy of Optometry and contributed extensively to published research. Recently, he enhanced his expertise in pediatric eyecare during an 18-month stint at The Children’s Eye Center in El Paso, TX, alongside Dr. Radenovich.

Outside of work, he enjoys hiking and mountain biking in El Paso, as well as indulging in his hobby of smoking briskets and ribs with his smoker, using pecan wood.
